“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.” —Philippians 4:6 NLT
One of the greatest lies the enemy whispers into the hearts of believers is this: You can’t go to God right now. You’re not worthy. You’ve messed up too much. You haven’t prayed enough. You haven’t been good enough.
But Scripture tells a completely different story. It tells us that God’s throne is not guarded by conditions, performance charts, or spiritual scorecards. It is a throne of grace—open, welcoming, and accessible at any moment, day or night.
The writer of Hebrews reminds us that we have a High Priest—Jesus—who understands us completely. He knows our weaknesses, our temptations, our failures, our fears. He knows the moments we fall apart and the moments we pretend we’re fine. And because He understands, He invites us to come boldly—not timidly, not cautiously, not apologetically, but boldly—to the throne of grace.
As women, we often carry a quiet pressure to “hold it all together.” We feel we must be strong, composed, capable, and spiritually steady. And when we’re not, shame creeps in. We think, I can’t pray like this. I need to fix myself first. But that’s the enemy’s trap. God never asks us to clean ourselves up before coming to Him. He asks us to come as we are—messy, tired, confused, hopeful, hurting, grateful, or overwhelmed. His presence is not a reward for good behaviour; it is a refuge for the broken.
Think of Adam in the garden. After he sinned, he hid. Shame drove him away from the very One who could heal him. And we do the same. We hide in busyness, distraction, guilt, or silence. But God calls us out of hiding—not to expose us, but to restore us.
Church, too, is not a place for the polished. It is a hospital for the wounded. A gathering of people who need grace, not a showcase of people who have mastered perfection. When you fall, when you fail, when you feel unworthy—that is the moment to run toward God, not away from Him.
Paul’s words in Philippians are beautifully simple: Don’t worry—pray. Tell God what you need—thank Him for what He’s done. There are no disclaimers. No prerequisites. No spiritual qualifications. Just an open invitation.
And when you don’t know what to say—when your heart feels tangled or your thoughts feel heavy—the Holy Spirit steps in. He prays for you, through you, and with you. He carries your unspoken burdens to the Father with perfect clarity and perfect love.
No matter where you are today—strong or struggling, joyful or weary—you can approach God with confidence. He hears you. He welcomes you. He responds to you. His throne is always open, and His heart is always inclined toward His children.
This is the greatest privilege of your life: You have full, constant, unhindered access to the God who loves you.
What about you? In what moments of your day are you most likely to turn to prayer—and in which moments do you tend to hold back, even though God is inviting you to come close?
