How would you improve your community?
What underlies a community that grows together, fixing our eyes on Jesus – is prayer. I was on the beach early this morning and saw these pebbles that had been washed onto shore. Each one different, all flawed.
I picked up an assortment. On Sunday I will hand them out. We will use them for our prayers and towards the end they will put their names on their pebble. Then we will pass them out again and specific prayer over the week will be done.
I cannot wait to hear the results!

How have you adapted to the changes brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic?
I remember those years as a blur of masks and distancing.

What are your morning rituals? What does the first hour of your day look like?
The first hour has ambient noise; bird song, vehicles, movement of wildlife and people as I walk with Lorelei. Returning home I spend some time with the Bible and in prayer with my coffee. I have an alert to make coffee and start work at 7:30 am. My hour is more like 1.5 hours.
If you could have something named after you, what would it be?
I think I would a custom van named after me. I want to invent a special dog compartment that is not a cage but a lovely place that my Lorelei can have a sleep or look out or nudge me for a potty stop.
I would call it the Talenkynic-LoreleiGilmore contraption.

When you were five, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to feed the world. For there to be no hungry people. I had watched a documentary on poverty and starvation and it struck me as unfair.
Now I volunteer in a food bank, but there is still poverty and hunger.

How has technology changed your job?
Prayer is what underpins my work. No tech is needed for that, thank God!

How often do you say “no” to things that would interfere with your goals?
There was a time when I would’ve found it really hard to say no, no matter what somebody was asking me to do I would’ve tried to say yes. Part of growing in my walk with Jesus is learning what to say yes to and what to say no to.
So it isn’t so much, not fulfilling goals or saying no because it would interfere with my goals. My goal is to share Jesus. my goal is to bring other people to Noel Jesus, the way that I know Jesus, and so anything interferes with that really is not the place that I want to be.
Recently I’ve had to be in a place with that for 1000 million reasons, I would not in any sphere of my life ever won’t be in. And yet God placed me in there and I was able to show his compassion. I was unable to offer the invitation.
So maybe I need to think a little bit more about going to those places? Maybe I need to think about how tightly I have my no and my yes. Do I need to think some more about stretching that out a little bit?
And interesting prompt this morning. Thank you to Word Press it has made me think through some things.

What’s a secret skill or ability you have or wish you had?
Always wanted to fly

What is your favourite type of weather?
When it rains and the mist comes down; there is the beginning of stillness
In the middle of the night a flurry of snow causes it to act as a sound baffle and perhaps there is the hint of silence
When the sun on an October afternoon has a rainbow cowl surrounding it
Those are some of my favourite weather types
So my lovely nail technician is finishing off another client.
The Polish chatter with a child who wants to be anywhere else other than nail salon today is a universal language.
There is the songs coming from the YouTube tv: it goes straight to the …
To me it is noise. The padam padam of the beat detracts from the rap.
The next song is better: more tuneful, with distorted lyrics. I am surely glad not to be seeing the screen
So what do I do: I open my prayer app and while all the noise is happening… I pray.
I enter into the contemplative prayer time I have learned this year; my breath slows, my ears close ( well not so much close but stop impinging noises)
My eyes close and I am
I wait, upon the Lord
As I wait for Ana

at 6.38 I turned off my alarm and was on the street within 5 minutes. It was dark, very little traffic but there were 7 runners that I hadn’t seen at this time before. A guy in hi vis shorts and vest, a guy head to toe matching pale blue, an older guy walking with a hat – a proper hat not a cap or cowboy hat – a hat you would need to go to a gentlemen outfitters to purchase. It was warmer this morning 7 degrees Celsius maybe this was a 2023 resolution run. I will change my alarm to 6:15 then the streets will be clear of the humans. There is a collared dove who would like to be fed along with 3 rooks who are circling a house along the way, the sky is grey /white now at 8:27 probably showers to be expected. Must change out of my crocs to proper shoes or chilblains will come again.
My work for the day is done bar one thing I am putting off and all the visits and Bible studies – office work is done!

A long time ago (2012) I used a blogging site called Typepad to write my journal. Following on is a year in the life of me as I learned to be in church and around church people.
The Eve of a Year on the Journey
Dear Lord
As I prepare to share my walk with you for one year I ask you to be with me as I write as you are with me on the journey. Lord I thank you for the amazing changes you made in my life in 2011.
I thank you for placing one person in my life who pointed me in the right direction many years ago.
In 2009 you placed another person in my path who spoke truth I wasn’t willing to listen to yet, I thank you for that person because when I turned up on their doorstep asking for help they did not turn me away and again pointed me on.
I thank you for the person I used as the face of human judgement, on that human level they were shocked. I thank you that the unshockable was shocked because in that I could see what I needed to change.
I thank you for the healing person you brought into my life, without you and without them I could not be this new creation that you created.
You created in me a clean heart, where you reside. My heart was softened by you Lord and I thank you for this.
Lord you are wonderful, when I think of you and all you created. You are this awesome powerful God who made the universe and everything in it, and you want me too. Words have been a long time coming to my mouth, to my pen to describe how absolutely and tremendously gobsmackingly brilliant it makes me feel to be part of your family, to be adopted by you.
I am unworthy of the place you have provided for me in your family and I am eternally grateful for this. Lord, you are Lord.
Lord thank you for forgiving and forgetting, and Lord please be with me as I share our journey.
Amen
For seven months I have been working on how to voice this change, I know what you want me to do next, and so this is my preparatory stage. Lord I know I should just dive out the boat, and not just dip my toe in, the hesitancy is human, I know, because I have seen and been, party to your glory, that with your strength in me anything is possible.
