The Quiet Walk

While they were talking and discussing together, Jesus himself came near and went with them. Luke 24:15

Selah

Be still and know…

Think about the road ahead of you.

The appointments. The responsibilities. The decisions. The unknowns.

Don’t try to walk tomorrow’s road today.

Just consider the next step.

Picture Christ beside you.

Walking at your pace.

Be still and know that I am God. Psalm 46:10

Reflection

Life is usually lived one step at a time.

We may wish for a map, but more often God gives us a companion.

The disciples on the road to Emmaus did not know where the conversation was leading. They did not know that resurrection was walking alongside them. They simply kept putting one foot in front of the other.

There is wisdom in that.

When we face uncertainty, we often want the whole journey explained. We want clear answers, fixed outcomes and guaranteed results.

Yet faith rarely works that way.

Faith is trusting enough to take the next step.

A conversation.

A phone call.

A visit.

A prayer.

An act of kindness.

A new beginning.

Most journeys with God are made up of ordinary steps faithfully taken.

And while we may not always recognise him, Christ continues to walk beside us.

The destination may seem distant, but the Companion is near.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, thank you for walking with me. Give me courage for today’s step and trust for tomorrow’s road. Amen.

Road Question

What is the next faithful step God may be asking me to take?

Emmaus Refrain

Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road? Luke 24:32
