The Quiet Hospital Room

Jesus himself came up and walked along with them. Luke 24:15

Selah

Be still and know…

Think of someone who is struggling.

Someone waiting.

Someone receiving treatment.

Someone caring for another.

Hold them before God.

Be still and know that I am God.

Reflection

Hospital rooms are often places of waiting.

Waiting for news.

Waiting for treatment.

Waiting for answers.

Waiting for strength.

Few people would choose to spend time there. Yet those who walk hospital corridors often discover something important. Human kindness shines brightly in difficult places.

A nurse offering reassurance.

A hand reaching for another hand.

A whispered prayer.

A quiet presence beside a bed.

The Emmaus Road was also a road of uncertainty. The disciples did not know what was coming next. Their future felt fragile.

Perhaps that is why Christ chose to meet them there.

Not after certainty arrived.

Not after the questions disappeared.

But right in the middle of uncertainty.

God specialises in meeting people on difficult roads.

If today finds you waiting, worrying or wondering, remember this:

The risen Christ is no stranger to suffering.

And he still walks beside those who carry it.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, be close to all who are sick, anxious or caring for loved ones. Let your peace be known in every place of pain. Amen.

Road Question

Where have I seen kindness shining in difficult circumstances?

Emmaus Refrain

Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road?
