“But as I looked at everything I had worked so hard to accomplish, it was all so meaningless—like chasing the wind. There was nothing really worthwhile anywhere.” — Ecclesiastes 2:11 (NLT)
Life is full of crossroads — moments when we choose a direction, sometimes without even realizing how significant that choice will be. Scripture makes this reality unmistakably clear. God told His people, “I have given you the choice between life and death… Oh, that you would choose life.” The invitation is tender, urgent, and deeply personal.
Every one of us is walking a road. The question is: where does it lead?
Solomon, one of the wealthiest and most accomplished men in history, tried nearly every road available — pleasure, achievement, possessions, knowledge, success. And after reaching the top of every mountain, he looked around and said, “It’s all meaningless… like chasing the wind.” He discovered what many people learn only after years of striving: if you live for happiness or pleasure alone, they will always stay just out of reach.
But Jesus offers a different road — one that leads to life, purpose, and joy that circumstances can’t steal. He promises eternal life beyond the grave and abundant life here and now. Not a life free from hardship, but a life anchored in Him.
If you’ve chosen that road — if you’ve placed your trust in Christ — then you are already walking in the direction of life. And your life becomes a signpost for others. Paul urges believers to “live as citizens of heaven,” letting their words, actions, priorities, and attitudes reflect the One they follow. When people see Christ in you, they begin to realize that the same life is available to them.
But maybe you once chose the right road and somehow drifted. Maybe you’ve taken detours, gotten lost, or wandered far from where you intended to be. The good news is that God never abandons His children. Like the father in the story of the prodigal son, He waits with open arms, ready to welcome you home. It’s never too late to turn around. It’s never too late to choose life again.
The right road isn’t about perfection. It’s about direction. It’s about walking toward Jesus — step by step, day by day — trusting that He will guide, restore, and strengthen you.
