Many people want to talk about LOVE.
There are songs spinning in all our heads about love:
Schmaltzy love:
Every little thing that you do
I’m so in love with you
It just keeps gettin’ better
I wanna spend the rest of my life
With you by my side
Forever and ever
Every little thing that you do
Ooh (every little thing that you do)
Every little thing that you do
Baby I’m amazed by you – Lonestar Amazed
In your face love:
I love you, I’m sorry
The way life goes (you were the best but you were the worst)
(As sick as it sounds, I loved you first) – Gracie Adams I love you I’m sorry
Reminiscing love:
A smile on my face, no reason to cry
I love you all the time – Florence and the Machine
I love you all the time
When I talk about love or write about love – it is God’s love I talk about.
God’s LOVE that surpasses human, physical love and settles deep in your heart and spirit. We all know that God Is Love?
Knowing that God loves us, just as we are, is central to His love for the world and what Jesus did for us. “For God so loved the world, He sent His only Son…” (John 3:16) God’s love isn’t just for the moneyed, the good-hearted folks, the philanthropists, but for the usual, everyday person – it’s for you and me, no matter our situation in life or where we live.
1 John 4:16, ESV puts it this way: “So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.”
God is the pure core of love. His love doesn’t have degrees, but much depth. It never runs out, and it never gives up on us. His love will satisfy the hollowness in our souls, bodies, and spirits. His love is a fully satisfied meal. Just knowing God loves YOU – it sets your feet dancing!
Too many people have experienced the wrong side of God’s love—the demands by religion without God’s heart for humankind. They’ve been sold a package that says God will only love you if you do…or don’t do…certain things but that’s NOT God’s Love.
God’s heart for you is full of love. He wants the best for you. He has something even better ahead for you. He will always lead you with His love. He doesn’t seek revenge for past mistakes. No, because He is love. He gently speaks to your heart wanting to fill you with all of Him. When you’re full of God’s love, you’ll manage the obstacles of life in victory. We’re called to abide—that is, stay—in His Love, not being moved from it. You’re His favourite.
Let’s allow God’s Love to direct our steps and deepen our hearts and understanding of just how much He loves us and then share it with those around us.
